One way to support your parents through their journey is by learning how to effectively communicate with someone who has hearing loss. This ensures they don’t miss out on something they deeply care about - staying connected with you. You can find great tips on this topic in the following blog - https://www.humelan.com/post/top-tips-for-better-communication-when-you-or-someone-you-know-has-hearing-loss

My mother (age 70) got hearing aids earlier this year, and it's made a HUGE difference in her quality of life. I regret not taking her concerns about hearing loss very seriously over the last 5 years - because it seemed to the rest of the family like her hearing was mostly ok. However, she'd get upset when she missed out on a joke or when we teased her for turning the TV volume up. I understand now that she felt excluded and somewhat stigmatized. I'm really glad she trusted herself and persevered through the process to get them.
